Under the NDIS, Supported Employment helps people with disability access meaningful work opportunities in safe, inclusive, and supportive environments. These programs are designed to build confidence, develop skills, and promote long-term independence through employment that matches each person’s interests and capabilities.
At Shine Communities, we redefine what supported employment looks like. We don’t just provide jobs — we create pathways for genuine inclusion, growth, and purpose.
Every role is tailored to the individual, built around their strengths, preferences, and goals. Our approach is flexible, responsive, and person-led, ensuring participants feel heard, valued, and supported in every step of their employment journey.
Recognised as one of the top providers in supported employment, Shine continues to achieve exceptional outcomes for our participants. Our success is measured not only in numbers but in the confidence, connection, and independence our team members gain through meaningful, life-changing work.

FAQs
Supported Employment helps people with disability access meaningful, paid work in safe and inclusive environments. It’s designed to build confidence, develop new skills, and provide opportunities for personal growth and independence while receiving the right level of on-the-job support. If you don’t have a specific Supported Employment item in your NDIS plan, 1:1 Core Supports can also be used to help you access and participate in meaningful employment opportunities that align with your goals.
Our Coffee Van Initiative is a hands-on supported employment opportunity where participants learn customer service, barista, and operational skills in a real-world environment. It’s a space where individuals can build confidence, gain practical work experience, and engage with the community — all while working as part of a supportive and inclusive team.
No prior experience is necessary — Shine provides all required training and on-the-job support. A positive attitude, willingness to learn, and an interest in developing new skills are the most important qualities. We help participants build transferable skills in communication, teamwork, time management, and customer service to prepare them for future employment opportunities.
Shine offers a diverse range of supported employment opportunities — from hospitality and coffee service to retail, administration, and community projects. Every role is tailored to promote independence, confidence, and long-term skill development.
Our programs currently operate across the Sunshine Coast location only currently, with expansion underway into new community-based social enterprise initiatives.
